  1. 1. Global Empires Patricia FonsecaHistory 140 History/Americas Through 1800 Professor Arguello October 9, 2011
  2. 2. The Author’s Intent Thinking Big Expansion Through Imperialism Social Reform Movements Religious Conversions Expansion Through Commerce
  3. 3. Comparing to Class and Previous TextComplimentsOrganizationCompact
  4. 4. Conclusion The author realizes that the importance of global growth cannot beinterpreted by mere events. A larger perspective is required to fully grasp thesimultaneous actions of historic cultures that create a composition ofdevelopment that brings a rise in power among countries. The author describesvarious methods of expansion such as trade, religion, social efforts, as well aspolitical movements to express an imperialist ideology that is the prominentreason for expansion. I found the book to be very interesting, and I wouldrecommend it for recreational reading.
