1. 1. Genocide
By: Morgan K.
,r:10,s:31&biw=1020&bih=567
,r:0,s:0
2. 2. What is Genocide??
“Genocide is violent crimes committed against a group or race intending to destroy the groups existence”
This definition was found at:

3. 3. Genocide Includes….
Genocide
-killing a follower of a race or group
-harming a follower mentally or physically
-attempting to prevent births within the group
-Forcing children to move to a different group

4. 4. More on GENOCIDE

5. 5. Why is Genocide committed???
. The world still has genocide because the world has not opened facilities that will help research and prevent genocide from occurring. Genocide could be prevented but the leaders in the world, don’t have the “political will” to prevent it.
6. 6. International Institutes
A step in helping prevent genocide is developing International Institutes willing to step up to prevent it.
Four Institutes are:
Centers for Early Warning
Programs for Conflict Transformation
Standing Forces for Rapid Intervention
International courts for Corrective Punishments
7. 7. Centers for Early Warning
-determines where and when the genocide will appear
“There is not a single person at the United Nations whose responsible for genocide early warning and prevention.”
There is an International Campaign to End Genocide that mostly impact New York. The Genocide Study Centers should have daily updates on the genocide.
Even with all the information that the Centers for Early Warning has gathered it is still not enough to have a full prevention.
8. 8. Programs for Conflict Transformation
-an institution that interferes non-violently prior to the genocide occurring
“Every church, synagogue, mosque, and temple should teach peace-making, and inter-religious leaders’ councils should be formed wherever there is a religious division.”
9. 9. Standing Forces for Rapid Intervention
The United Nations needs dependable force that can be called in to interfere with genocide.
Three types of forces:
Standing Forces
Volunteer Forces
Professional Forces
10. 10. International Court for Corrective Punishment
-an institution for punishing the criminal
The International Criminal Court, also known as the ICC, is a court system the world has for punishing criminals. I t deals with cases relating genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. In order for the ICC to be affective it has to have support from all nations to arrest those who are guilty of the wrongdoing.
11. 11. Of course the International Institutes can’t prevent genocide alone, they can still impact the effect of genocide. Genocide will not be halted in the 21st century, but it will have a decrease in its occurrences.
