3. 3. We divided Rs. 5000 among A & B. 1/3 of what A got is 2/3 of 4 times of what B got. How much did A & B got?

Let us assume that A got 3X.

Thus 1/3 of A is X. B got X *3/2*1/4

3X + 3/8X = 5000

27/8 X = 5000

X = 5000*8/27 = 1481 A = 3*1481 = 4444

A = 4444. B got 556 Answer.

 4. 4. A’s Capital is 5 times half of the capital of B. 2/3 rd of B’s capital is 3 times half the capital of C. What is the ratio of the capital of A,B,C?

Let us start from C. Let us assume that C’s capital is 8. Half of C = 4, multiply by (go from last conditions first) =4*3 = 12. B = 3/2 *12 = 18. thus B is 18.

Let us do half of B = 9. Now multiply 9 by 5. Thus ratio of A,B,C is 45:18:8 answer.

 5. 5. If 6A = 5B = 4 C, then what is the ratio of A:B:C?

A = 5*4,

B = 6*4

C = 6*5

Thus A:B:C = 20:24:30 or 10:12:15 answer.

 6. 6. On 1 April, A and B start a business with capital in the ratio of 8: 9. A doubled his capital and B tripled his capital after 1 month. How will they share their profit for the financial year?
 7. 7. Solution :

Assume that A gave Rs. 8. *1 = 8 (for first month). 16 *3 = 48 plus 13*8= 104

Assume B starts with 9, so 9*1 = 9

Then 27*10 = 270 plus 2*1 = 2

Thus A = 8+48+104 =160

B = 9+270+2 = 281

Profit sharing ratio is thus ratio is 160 : 281 answer.

 10. 10. ¾ th of a pond is filled by a pipe in 12 hours. How much more time will be required to fill the remaining portion?

Only 3 portions have been filled so far. Thus one portion takes 12/3 = 4 hours. Thus the last forth portion will take another 4 hours. Answer.
