Traditionally, the Christmas Eve supper consists of abstaining from meat
dishes. The traditional fish, is ”Bacalhau(salted cod), but other regions
eat Polvo (Octopus), or another fish.

4. Christmas desserts
King cake is placed in the center of the table. This cake is made in the shape of a
crown, filled and decorated with dry and crystallized fruits.
Traditionally a broad bean and a gift (a little token) are hidden in the cake.
If you get the token you are allowed to keep it. But if you find the broad bean, you
have to pay for next year's “Bolo Rei”!

“Filhoses” are usually made by forming balls
from a mixture of flour, egg, and pumkin (paste
or dough), which is optional. When the dough
has risen, the balls are deep fried deep and
sprinkled with a mixture of sugar and
cinnamon.
They are eaten cold and they are very sweet
and delicious

Portuguese dessert during the

They are sweet and crunchy fried
dough pieces with a nice orange flavor
and a nice cinnamon finish.
