Power Smarter Commerce in the Cloud
TAMPA, Fla. (September 20, 2011) — Savtira Corporation (Savtira) today announced it is using IBM Smarter Commerce
software as a foundation for its Web 3.0 Cloud Commerce platform designed to help businesses strengthen customer
loyalty and boost revenue through marketing, selling and distributing digital content and physical goods.
In addition, Savtira will also soon be launching a new service allowing consumers to purchase a wide array of digital
content directly from Savtira and then store it in the cloud.
As the retail industry continues to move rapidly to the cloud, businesses are increasingly looking to capitalize on digital
commerce. Outsourcing has been a leading method for online sales, with currently 80 percent of digital goods e-
commerce being outsourced. However, many first generation digital distributors have significant legacy technology issues
that make it increasingly difficult to meet the evolving shopping needs of today’s consumer.
Using IBM’s WebSphere Commerce software, Savtira’s customized e-commerce stores and tools allow retailers to fully
realize their eCommerce goals. Savtira’s custom-built eStores are branded with extra features and services that are
offered on an à la carte basis. Additionally, they work with virtually any type of device, from “connected” car systems to
set-top boxes, browser plug-ins, DVRs, web TVs, tablets, smart phones, and computers. Once in place, the Savtira
eStore lets retailers quickly distribute, market, merchandise and sell both digital media and physical goods in a single
store and a single, unified shopping cart.
“Whether a traditional brick and mortar retailer or a digital content e-Tailer, businesses are looking for solutions that allow
them to easily tap into the potential revenue opportunities offered through digital downloads,” said Timothy Roberts, CEO
of Savtira Corporation. “By combining IBM’s Smarter Commerce products with our cloud-based delivery model, we can
offer retailers a commerce solution that will work with virtually any type of device to meet the anytime, anywhere shopping
demands of today’s consumer.”
Savtira‘s platform includes a robust digital media content library with an open-catalog approach, which lets retailers store
their own content in the cloud. Savtira business partners can then choose to distribute only their own content, opt-in to
distribute content from Savtira’s Digital Catalog or use a combination of both. Savtira’s Web 3.0 also extends beyond
commerce by offering a socially-enabled platform that allows users to communicate and share what they are doing,
listening to, reading, buying, watching, wearing and playing with social networks. In doing so, Savtira changes all aspects
of the world and consumer behavior by taking social networking to the next level.
"Savtira’s business model addresses the retailer’s need to evolve their sales channels and meet the demands of today’s
marketplace,” said John Mesberg, vice president, B2B & Commerce Solutions, IBM. "IBM’s Smarter Commerce software
is playing an integral role, helping Savtira deliver to retailers a seamless commerce experience that spans multiple
channels including social networks, mobile devices and the web, and ultimately allows them to create stronger
connections with their customers.”
2. IBM Global Financing, the IT leasing and loan arm within IBM, played an integral role in this effort by providing financing
to Savtira. With this financing, Savtira was able to quickly integrate IBM Smarter Commerce software into its offering while
retaining the flexibility to pursue other important business investments.
IBM Smarter Commerce transforms how companies manage and swiftly adapt to customer and industry trends across
marketing, selling and service processes that span the entire commerce cycle, putting the customer at the center of their
decisions and actions. These topics and more will be discussed at IBM’s upcoming Smarter Commerce Global Summit.
