EASTERN LANCASTER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT • Rural population, 95 square miles, 3,200 students (plus 94 guest students), 4 school campuses. • Free and reduced lunch percentage at 35.8 percent (end of last year); median household income level dropped in 2011 from $43,000 to $35,000 in 2012. • Major consequences resulting from the recession…teacher furloughs, outsourcing of support staff, pay freeze for administrators, huge dollars given to cyber and charter schools • Second lowest tax effort in Lancaster County
