  7. 7. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! GROUPS Groups can be started and joined by any individual around any topic of interest. While some groups are official in nature (e.g. “Official SendOutCard Group), many groups are more unofficial and more for personal interests, specified topics, friends, or support groups etc. ! Purpose! -  Great way to engage with your personal downline and/or upline teams.! -  Utilize groups for particular topics of interest to you. ! -  Join and recruit your team members to join the SendOutCards Official Group collaborate on ideas and engage with other leaders! ! Utilize Groups! To create a group you go to!
  8. 8. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! GROUPS! -  Post an introduction on the Group’s Wall stating your interest! in the group. If you’re looking to network, say so. The key here is ! to make this a simple introduction so the group knows who you ! are – not an advertisement for yourself or services, which may ! come across as spam.! -  Add links to interesting events, pieces of news or blog posts ! relevant to SendOutCards. Anybody who reads them will know! you posted them, which will add to your professional branding efforts.! -  Go to the discussion board and comment on a few topics; don’t be generic. Find a discussion where you could truly add value and help some fellow members with their questions or contribute to some discussions with your thoughts.! -  Post a topic for discussion. Ask a question or propose a thought- provoking topic of discussion and share your thoughts — the object is to engage your fellow group members. Check back on this discussion often so you can participate and remain an active part of it.! Participating in the Official SOC Group!
  9. 9. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! PAGES Fan Pages are intended to be the official representation and voice of companies, nonprofits, brands, governments, celebrities, and other public figures. ! Purpose! •  The official SendOutCards page is meant to serve this purpose. And is a great place to find content to share on your own profiles, groups, and pages. ! •  However, if you decide to create a “fan page” be ready to put the time into growing your audience. A single fan doesn’t make a fan page very valuable. ! •  Your fan page must not include “SendOutCards” in the name, title or link. ! Should I create a “Fan Page”? ! To create a fan page, one simply has to go to and create a new page.!
  10. 10. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! GROUPS vs. PAGES
How to know which to use! Personal vs Corporate! Facebook Groups are set up for more personal interaction. Groups are also directly connected to the people who administer them, meaning that activities that go on there could reflect on you personally. One key difference is that Pages are indexed by external search engines such as Google, just like a public profile while Groups are not.! User Control! Groups offer far more control over who gets to participate. Permission settings make it possible for group admins to restrict access to a group, so that new members have to be approved. Access to a Page, however, can only be restricted by certain ages and locations. Again, this makes groups more like a private club.! Applications! Pages can host applications, so a Page can essentially be more personalized and show more content. Groups can’t do this.!
  11. 11. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! Moderation! Neither Groups nor Pages have great moderation features. They can both be a little granular as to how things get posted, who can post, and what kind of media can be posted, but that’s about it. If someone posts spam on your Group or your Page, you have to remove it manually, and you can also remove specific members.! Ability to create events! Both Groups and Pages allow you to create related Events, which show up under the users' Request (and later in the upcoming events page on the sidebar of their dashboard if they've RSVPed). Neither have any added functionality beyond the generally available Facebook Events application.! Advertise! Ads can be purchased to promote either Groups or Pages, but Pages can benefit from social ads that publicize the fan connection between a Page and a specific user.! GROUPS vs. PAGES

  12. 12. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! GROUPS are great for…! Organizing on a personal level and ! smaller scale interaction around a cause! PAGES are better for…! Brands, businesses, bands, movies, or celebrities who want to interact with their fans or customers without having them connected to a personal account, and have a need to exceed Facebook's 5,000 friend cap.! 22. 22. Social Media Webinar - Facebook!! WHAT TO POST Don’t spam your Facebook or social network with the same posts over and over. Include a variety of posts. Here are some ideas: ! ! 1. Conversations starters. ! Questions are the key to your status updates. If you post something like, ”Ready to start another great day of getting paid to be nice to people!," tack on one extra piece at the end: a question. It can be generic or specific to your business. For example; “Ready to start another great day of getting paid to be nice to people… what you are doing today?”! ! Fill in the blank posts are another easy conversation starter and ! one that gets great response. Again, this can be industry specific ! or general; however, if you go with something general, be sure it! still targets your primary fan base. ! ! TIP! Ask questions and engage people in conversation!!

Post a link to articles you find most interesting or more specifically pertain to your customers.! ! TIP! Utilize the cover photos and social cards available to you in the SendOutCards Page albums.
