This is a big opportunity to drive povertyalleviation. While lots of tourism developmentmaster plans focus on the important aspects oftourism development and feasibility, technology andsocial media has not been integrated so far, beyondlooking at social media when it comes to crisismanagement, and even that is still fairly new formany organizations.Digital Aid has a mission to help developingtourism regions across Asia to learn how to leverageemerging technology and digital media for capacitybuilding to develop tourism in a responsible way.
  6. 6. DIA: DIGITAL INNOVATION ASIA Page 6BLOGGER MATCH-UPJune 10th, 2013@ lebua Hotel at State TowerEngage with the influencers: Introducing BloggerMatch-Up in Asia for the travel and tourism industry issimply the best opportunity for your company, client, destination or organization to get in front of travel andlifestyle bloggers, writers and new media creators. In the age of citizen journalism, it becomes moreand more challenging for companies to find and connectwith digital influencers, from bloggers, micro-bloggers,and social network connectors. Not only do many ofthese influencers under cover, but can have a hugefollowing, but also the rules of engagement are vastlydifferent from dealing with traditional media. The Blogger Match-Up is a unique exchangeto meet influential citizen journalists, connectwith them, and leverage their following byengaging them with exhibiting travel productsand services, including hotels, destinations, airlines, restaurants, tours, shopping, and more. The Blogger Match-Up also educates on how toengage with these influential bloggers, in order toavoid unexpected surprises.Digital Aid will drive awareness. Howeveron the other hand, Digital Aid goes grass rootsby holding boot camps in developing tourismregions. These workshops are designed around aproprietary 12-point plan that is delivered to thesetourism communities. Past boot camps were heldinCambodia,Laos,Bhutan,Myanmar, andThailand. This is an initiative that is supported by PATA andMTCO, as well as the respective governmentaltourism administrations.
