Take a Vancouver Vacationby Howard Shen | on August 16, 2012Vancouver is perfect as a vacation spot because of the several activities you can do here and allthe lovely attractions you can witness. The great thing is, some of them can be experienced forfree. You need to be able to know what the places you shouldn’t miss are as well as those thatwon’t waste your precious time.Having said that, I have compiled here the top Vancouver attractions that are worth the time, effort and expense and those that will allow you to experience more than just seeing Vancouver’sphysical attractiveness. One day is not enough to tour all of these, so prepare a two to three daytour.Granville Island is a perfect example of urban redevelopment which was an industrial wastelandbefore. It is a flourishing community beneath the shade of the Granville St. Bridge which is a
tourist and local magnet. What you can do here is eat, stroll, shop, sight-seeing and gallerygazing; you can expend as small or as great as you desire. To get to this lovely site, you can stride for 25 minutes or take a bus for a 10 minute ride startingfrom downtown Vancouver. You can also ride a little water taxi that shuttles to and fro the FalseCreek. Do away with bringing your own vehicle; commute instead because parking there is ahassle especially during the weekends.Stanley Park and Vancouver Aquarium is the “New York’s Central Park” in Vancouver. It isVancouver’s green gem in the center of the urban jungle and lovely backyard of the whole WestEnd community. Appreciate the place through strolling, biking or just sitting at a bench on theseawall and gaze at the beautiful environment.
One fun area here is the Vancouver Aquarium, excellent for the family especially the kids, whereyou can witness the display of coastal sea life perfect for sight-seeing in the afternoon. In orderto experience the fun, have with you a public transit receipt which will allow you to have a $2discount on your Vancouver Aquarium entrance. The UBC Museum of Anthropology is an attractive Arthur Erickson designed museum becauseit shows the Aboriginal Culture which is a significant part of the Canada history. It stands at theUniversity of British Columbia which exhibits beautiful pieces of arts, relics and shows the
history of West Coast First Nations. You can witness the exhibits with a 50 percent off entrancefee every Tuesday from 5 in the afternoon to 9 in the evening. The Grouse Mountain is a perfect combination of mountains and Mother Nature in Vancouver. You can either scale expense less or ride the gondola with fee to reach the top of Grouse andspend your time appreciating the scenic panorama of the city as you sit on a restaurant deckchair. You can also take pictures of wildlife, watch a tongue-in-cheek lumberjack revue, or gohiking if its summer and skiing if its winter. Even though it is hot during the summer, it still feelscool at the top; what more during the winter?
The last of my list is the Chinatown and Dr. Sun Yat Sen Classical Chinese Garden where youcan have the Hong Kong feel because of the Chinatown restaurants, groceries, and bakeries.
The Garden on the other hand is a serene oasis which you can be pleased about more inspringtime.
