DNK manufactured over 40 different single pair cables due to different core colours, sheath markingetc.In 1988 a commitee was established in Norway to standardise thevariety of offshore topside cables in North Sea area.All major oil companies plus cable manufacturers participated inthis workAfter one year’s teamwork the first draft was issued.Thisstandardisation resulted in increased availability and costeffectivenessNEK 606 puts the necessary IEC standards into a single system forthe specification of high preformance offshore topside cables.Including minimum test requirements for harsh environments.
