  4. 4. Capsaicin The fruits of Capsicum chili pepper varieties have a high content of the active ingredient capsaicin. This compound provides the health benefits of Capsicum. The concentration of capsaicin can be measured as it determines the pungency (heat) of the peppers. It is measured in Scoville heat units (SHU).
