Our BCA temples are no different today. Service<br />Services are usually held three times weekly: Sunday mornings - 10:00am to 12:00 noon <br />Sunday afternoons - 2:00pm to 4:00pm <br />Wednesday evenings - 7:00pm to 9:00pm <br />Services last for approximately two hours and include chanting, seated meditation (zazen), and walking meditation (kinhin). Kinhin allows us to learn to take the mindfulness that we cultivate during zazen and apply it to the simple movement of walking, which is our first step in taking zazen off of the meditation cushions. Chanting opens and closes the service, helping to regulate the breath and settle the mind. Our standard order of service (with approximate timings) is: Chanting in English & Japanese - 10 minutes<br />Zazen - 40 minutes<br />Kinhin - 10 minutes<br />Zazen - 40 minutes<br />Chanting in Japanese - 10 minutes<br />

Temple MembershipPlease support the temple by becoming a member.  Temple Membership is valid from January 1 through December 31 in the following amounts:<br />$230 per family <br />$115 per individual<br />To become a member, please do the following:<br />1.  Pick up a membership form at the temple fill it out. <br />2.  Write a check payable to the temple.<br />3.  Mail to or drop off at the office the form & check.<br />

Upcoming Events<br />Going Through Anger and Greed Seminar – The Parable of the White Path – Lecture and discussion about the seeker making his way through the fires of anger and floods of greed to reach the realm of spiritual liberation.<br />Please join us for Temple Clean-up as we prepare for a fresh start for the 2010 year.<br />Joya-e: the last service of the year, a time of reflection and an opportunity to express gratitude to the blessings of Amida Buddha. Following the service, Toshikoshi Soba (buckwheat noodles), siginifyinglongivity, will be served.<br />For more information, please contact the church during main temple hours.<br />
  7. 7. Announcements<br />Please join us for the O-Bon Special Service to honor all of our ancestors. The service will include zazen, special chants, offerings and a dharma talk.
