Who: The United States, South Vietnam, and North Vietnam. <br />The North Vietnamese (a.k.a Vietcong) wanted south Vietnam to become a part of communism, but south Vietnam didn’t want to. <br />The United States vowed to help any country to stop the flow or spread of communism. <br />Who<br />
  3. 3. What: The Battle on Communism in Vietnam<br />Communism is the supreme rule of the country.<br />South Vietnam was capitalist and North Vietnam wanted to unite both sides as a communist country. <br />What<br />
  4. 4. When:1954-1975<br />President Johnson confronted congress about joining the war in Vietnam, allies with South Vietnam. Congress agreed and declared War on North Vietnam in1954. <br />The War started on November 1, 1955 and ended on April 30, 1975. The War lasted 20 years. <br />When<br />
  5. 5. Where: Vietnam<br />Vietnam is located in East Asia and is bordered by Cambodia, Thailand and Laos and China. <br />Occupies the eastern and southern part of the Indo-Chinese peninsula in SE Asia, with the South China Sea along its entire coast.<br />Where<br />
  6. 6. Why: The US entered the war to help fight and stop the spread of Communism in Vietnam and her surrounding countries.<br /> The US made an oath saying that they would help any country that needed assistance to prevent from becoming Communist.<br />Why<br />
  7. 7. Us Soldiers were often referred to as baby killers.<br />One out of Ten soldiers were a fatality.<br />Most Americans think the US won the Vietnam War!!!! We Didn’t. <br />Vietnam was also known as the Indo-China War.<br />Congress never declared war on Vietnam… that means it was more like the Vietnam Conflict…<br />Questions and Points of interest:<br />

There are many reasons why the US entered the Vietnam War.<br />Vietnam spies fire upon the US ship Maddox in the Gulf of Tonkin, Rather than withdrawing ships, President Johnson issued another Destroyer the C. Turner Joy to join the Maddox. Then both ships came under attack by North Vietnamese Submarines. <br />The president signed a document that said that if any country needs help to fight communism then the US will help without a moments notice.<br />Causes of The War<br />
