  3. 3. Nolvadex Tablets Indications Nolvadex Tablets are effective in the treatment of metastatic breast cancer in women and men. Adjuvant Treatment of Breast Cancer. Nolvadex is indicated for the treatment of node-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women following total mastectomy or segmental mastectomy, axillary dissection, and breast irradiation. In women with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS), following breast surgery and radiation, Nolvadex is indicated to reduce the risk of invasive breast cancer. © The Swiss Pharmacy, Geneva Switzerland
  4. 4. Nolvadex Tablets Indications Nolvadex (Tamoxifen Citrate) is indicated to reduce the incidence of breast cancer in women at high risk for breast cancer. Tamoxifen is used to treat infertility in women with anovulatory disorders. Tamoxifen is used to prevent estrogen related gynecomastia, resulting from elevated estrogenic levels.   5. 5. Nolvadex Tablets Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient The active pharmaceutical ingredient contained in Nolvadex Tablets is Tamoxifen Citrate. Each 10 mg Nolvadex Tablet contains 15.2 mg of Tamoxifen Citrate which is equivalent to 10 mg of tamoxifen.   6. 6. Nolvadex Tablets How Does it Work? Nolvadex Tablets contain the active ingredient tamoxifen which works by blocking the actions of oestrogen, a female sex hormone. It belongs to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-oestrogens. © The Swiss Pharmacy, Geneva Switzerland
  7. 7. Nolvadex Tablets Recommended Adult Dosage Swallow the tablets with a glass of water at about the same time each day. Nolvadex tablets can be taken with or without food. Breast Cancer: For patients with breast cancer, the recommended daily dose of Nolvadex is 20 mg to 40 mg.   8. 8. Nolvadex Tablets Recommended Adult Dosage Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS): The recommended dose is 20 mg of Nolvadex daily for 5 years. Reduction in Breast Cancer Incidence in High Risk Women: The recommended dose is 20 mg of Nolvadex daily for 5 years.   10. 10. Nolvadex Tablets Side Effects of Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) In patients treated with Nolvadex Tablets for metastatic breast cancer, the most frequent side effect is hot flashes. Other side effects which are seen infrequently are hypercalcemia, peripheral edema, distaste for food, pruritus vulvae, depression, dizziness, light-headedness, headache, hair thinning and/or partial hair loss, and vaginal dryness. During the treatment of Adjuvant Breast Cancer the most common side effects were hot flashes, vaginal discharge and irregular menses. Nolvadex Tablets Warnings And Precautions ➔Hypercalcemia has been reported in some breast cancer patients with bone metastases within a few weeks of starting treatment with Nolvadex. ➔An increased incidence of uterine malignancies has been reported in association with Nolvadex treatment. ➔An increased incidence of endometrial changes including hyperplasia and polyps have been reported in association with Nolvadex treatment. ➔There is evidence of an increased incidence of thromboembolic events, including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, during Nolvadex therapy. © The Swiss Pharmacy, Geneva Switzerland

Nolvadex Tablets Warnings And Precautions ➔In a trial using adjuvant Nolvadex 40 mg/day for 2-5 years, 3 cases of liver cancer have been reported in the Nolvadex-treated group ➔Nolvadex has been associated with changes in liver enzyme levels, and on rare occasions, a spectrum of more severe liver abnormalities including fatty liver, cholestasis, hepatitis and hepatic necrosis. © The Swiss Pharmacy, Geneva Switzerland
