Generic Foradil Aerolizer (Foratec Rotacaps) is a LABA used for the treatment of asthma in patients 5 years and above, for prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm (EIB) in patients 5 years and above and for the maintenance treatment of COPD.

Generic Foradil Aerolizer (Foratec
Rotacaps) is a Long-acting beta2-
adrenergic agonist (LABA) used for
the treatment of asthma in patients 5
years and above as an add-on to a
long-term asthma control medication
such as an inhaled corticosteroid. It
is also used for prevention of
exercise-induced bronchospasm
(EIB) in patients 5 years and above
and for the maintenance treatment of
bronchoconstriction in patients with
chronic obstructive pulmonary
disease (COPD).

Active Ingredient
The active pharmaceutical ingredient
present in Generic Foradil Aerolizer
(Foratec Rotacaps) is Formoterol
Fumarate.
Foratec Rotacaps contains 12 mcg
of Formoterol Fumarate in the form
of a dry Inhalation Powder.

Recommended Dosage
Treatment of asthma in patients 5 years and
above:
Inhalation of one capsule every 12 hours in addition
to concomitant treatment with a long-term control
medication such as an inhaled corticosteroid.
Exercise-Induced Bronchospasm (EIB):
Inhalation of one capsule at least 15 minutes before
exercise. Additional doses should not be used for 12
hours.
Maintenance treatment of bronchoconstriction in
patients with COPD:
Inhalation of one capsule every 12 hours

Contraindications
Generic Foradil Aerolizer (Foratec
Rotacaps) is contraindicated in
patients with the following
conditions:
➔Hypersensitivity to Formoterol Fumarate, or any
inactive component of this medication.
➔Contraindicated in the treatment of asthma
without concomitant use of a long-term asthma
control medication such as an inhaled
corticosteroid.

Side Effects of Generic Foradil Aerolizer
Inform your doctor if you notice any of the
following side effects and they worry you:
Trembling or shakiness, muscle aching or
cramps, palpitations (feeling that your heartbeat
is unusually fast or irregular), headache,
dizziness, feeling anxious, nervous or upset,
being unable to sleep, sore mouth or throat from
inhaling the powder in the capsule, changed
sense of taste, nausea (feeling sick), dry
mouth,excessive thirst, frequent urination and
tiredness over an extended period of time

Warnings And Precautions
➔LABAS increase the risk of Asthma related deaths
and asthma related hospitalizations. Formoterol
Fumarate dry Inhalation Powder for asthma should
be prescribed only as concomitant therapy with a
long-term control medication such as an inhaled
corticosteroid.
➔Do not initiate treatment with Foratec Rotacaps
during acutely deteriorating asthma. Do not use to
treat acute symptoms.
➔Generic Foradil Aerolizer is not a substitute for
corticosteroids. Corticosteroids should not be
stopped or reduced when Generic Foradil
Aerolizer is initiated.

Warnings And Precautions
➔ Do not use in combination with additional long-acting
beta2-agonist because of risk of overdose.
➔Discontinue Generic Foradil Aerolizer and institute
alternative therapy if paradoxical bronchospasm occurs.
➔Use Generic Foradil Aerolizer (Foratec Rotacaps) with
caution in patients with cardiovascular or central nervous
system disorders because of beta-adrenergic stimulation.
➔ Use with caution in patients with convulsive disorders,
thyrotoxicosis, diabetes mellitus, ketoacidosis, aneurysm,
and pheochromocytoma.
➔Be alert to hypokalemia and hyperglycemia.

Overdose Symptoms
The expected signs and symptoms with overdosage of
Generic Foradil Aerolizer (Foratec Rotacaps) are those
of excessive beta-adrenergic stimulation and/or
occurrence or exaggeration of the side effects,
e.g., Angina, hypertension or hypotension, tachycardia,
with rates up to 200 beats/min., arrhythmias,
nervousness, headache, tremor, seizures, muscle
cramps, dry mouth, palpitation, nausea, dizziness,
fatigue, malaise, hypokalemia, hyperglycemia, and
insomnia.
Metabolic acidosis may also occur. Cardiac arrest and
even death may be associated with an overdose of
Formoterol Fumarate dry inhalation powder.

10. Generic Foradil Aerolizer
Overdose Treatment
Treatment of overdosage consists of
discontinuation of Generic Foradil Aerolizer
(Foratec Rotacaps) together with institution of
appropriate symptomatic and/or supportive therapy.
The judicious use of
a cardioselective beta-receptor blocker may be
considered bearing in mind that such medication
can produce bronchospasm.
There is insufficient evidence to determine if
dialysis is beneficial for overdosage of Generic
Foradil Aerolizer. Cardiac monitoring is
recommended in cases of overdosage of
Formoterol Fumarate dry inhalation powder.
