Volume 5 Issue 2 – Winter 2014
Wow! We have really been busy!
Here is a quick look at how the residents of Riverwood have been staying busy. Inside this newsletter are
their comments about all they have been doing.
Each fall the folks from Grandview Christian Church and CrossRoads Christian Church host our residents
for a weekend at Appalachian Christian Camp in Unicoi, TN. They were also blessed by a visit from some
folks from Southeast Christian Church. They also received Christmas gifts from Savannah Christian
Church. I know I am going to forget someone. We have been so blessed!
In mid-November the Riverwood Community was blessed by a visit from the Milligan College Choir. The
residents were thrilled to have them sing for them and they, in turn, were able to sing for the choir.
A week later, we were blessed by the members of the Louisville Christian Church who provided a
delicious Thanksgiving Dinner before the residents left for the Thanksgiving holidays.
One holiday experience that our folks always look forward to is their trip to Dollywood; another is the
Christmas party that the CrossRoads youth always bring to Riverwood
Something new that was added this year was trip to see the Knoxville Ice Bears play hockey.
Don: I just want to give a BIG BIG Thanks for the [Milligan College] Choir who took their
time to eat with us and sing with us. It made me think of my Dad’s quartet songs. I
want them to come and sing with me for my birthday party on May 17.
The Louisville [Christian] Church did a great job fixing the food [for our early
Thanksgiving dinner]. It was an exciting time to fellowship.
Well, I liked it when we were traveling. I saw beautiful leave on trees and I like singing
at the church the best. And getting to know old friends.
To CrossRoads [thank you] for the grumpy Grouch shirt. I want to give a big, big, big THANKS for my “pear”
father (partner), Devan, who sent me a picture of me and him, and for my Alabama sticker. I always have a
great time with Southeast [Christian Church]. And bless the North Terrace Church [of Christ, Zanesville, OH] for
the McDonald’s gift cards. Rhonna and I think they need to come for Dollywood with us next time we go. Had
a wonderful time at Dollywood. We had a great time at the boat ride. Next time I go I want to ride, eat, swim,
stay for lunch, snack, supper. The Christmas party was great.
Trip to Camp:
That was a wonderful trip to the “Crossroads” camp ground. I like when we did the cake walk. I was the first
number they called out. And singing on Sunday. Then the [trip to] the Ice Bears [game] was fun and exciting.
Thanks to Bob and Kendra Dyer, Kenny’s brother and sister [in‐law] [for the tickets]. Popcorn and good old
Diet Coke. Thanks fur Hannah, Mom, Melissa, Eric.
Then, thanks for towels and [wash] rag and book. That was very nice of Savannah group to do that. Also,
thanks to Kimberly for Johnson [University] basketball games. Love in Christ, Don
Debbie: To the Church and Choir:
Thank you all for coming and sing for everone and singing for everone. And thank so much for the
Thanksgiving dinner. It was so good that you all did for everyone. It was so good you all did a good job with
everything. You all come back to see us. Love Debbie. God love you all.
To the Church:
Thank you so mcu for the Christmas gift and the Christmas card. And I had fun riding in the boat with you all
and thanks for the good lunch for us. You all are so nice to do that for everyone for the two houses. From
Debbie. God love you all.
Scott W: Thanks for going to Dollywood. I rode the roller coaster, then we ate dinner. Then we rode those
little bumper cars. Kenny told Mark he better hold on. Then Kenny did that Eagle, he made that noise, he was
screaming. Then we couldn’t get Eric on it because Eric didn’t want to get sick. They took pictures of us in the
Eagle. Then we flipped upside down and Kenny said, “Where’s Eric?” We wanted to ride it again. We had a
good Thanksgiving. We had a good Christmas. Thank you for the towel. Thank you for the McDonald card, we
went out to eat and had a good time.
Brenda: I had a good time when we went to Dollywood. I like those Christmas presents. I liked when we went
up to Johnson City and did that singing. I had a good time [being] home for Thanksgiving. I like when the
Milligan group came. They done good singing.
