(510) 412-0418 www.yidg.org mienradio@yahoo.com 2013 SUMMARY OF MCMF / YIDG NEWS JANUARY FEBRUARY Mien Friendship church in Richmond, CA celebrated Mien New Year with a real effort to recall the more wholesome aspects of traditional Mien culture and history. Jeff Thungc, Seattle (computer technician and member of Bible Recording Committee) spent over a week in Thailand setting up equipment at recording room in Mien Outreach Center, Maechan and planning with leaders to do most of the Bible Recording there. Two days were spent in special training for prospective readers and technicians. Over 20 Mien attended. MARCH Training program in CANs led by Pastors Gueix-Liemh and Yauz-Fuqv. APRIL Apr. 5-7 Leadership retreat at Living Water Camp, Chico, CA MAY Annual couples’ retreat in Washington JUNE JULY July 16-20 Mien Christian Youth Association camp at Mt. Hope, Forbestown, CA Yau Meng again led group to minister in China –primarily to Mien. Several Mien young adults went. One Mien nurse taught health education to many Mien women. AUGUST 9th to 11th Mien family camp was held at Lassen Pines in N. California. Camp Theme: “Attaining the End Goal” I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14 Attendees: 351 total (12 first time campers, 7 from Thailand, 85 children and youth). A first time camper stated, “My first time attending, I think it went very well; looking forward to next year”. Praise God! 3 persons were baptized. Report is at: http://www.motherteacher.org/2013MienChristianFamilyCamp-English.pdf For 11 years + Mien preachers from U.S. & Thailand have been conducting training programs in conjunction with Mien Radio for church planters in SE Asia CANs. This month 56 Mien & 6 Kim Mun received diplomas at an impressive service. Mien from 5 other countries attended. This was a very emotional time for all and a huge step forward.   2. 2. SEPTEMBER Sept. 14 YIDG board meeting at Fellowship Church, Portland, OR. Main topics considered were Leaders’ Training Retreat and YIDG budget for 2014. OCTOBER Mien Christian Mission Fellowship and Mien Evangelical Church in Seattle are supporting two Lantien men to translate the Bible into the Lantien language in Vietnam. Lantien (also called Kim Mun) is a language closely related to Mien so they are using the Mien Bible as the basis for this translation. NOVEMBER Couples retreat was held in California. DECEMBER Dec. 7th Annual meeting of leaders from YIDG member churches was held at Vintage Park Church Sacramento. Shasta Lake City Mien church became officially a member church of YIDG Dr. Youd Sinh led 3rd Annual Thailand/Laos Marriage and Family Conference. SPECIAL NOTE Many Mien church groups and individuals go each year on short term mission trips to Asian Mien. Most Mien churches also conduct their own retreats such as for children, youth, men, women, etc.
