What is BookSelf?BookSelf is a mobile app that helpsusers find a new favorite book.The app functions as the useranswers questions about theirmood, age, and gender. Based ontheir responses, the apprecommends a personalized bookselection.
Who Needs BookSelf?BookSelf is great for people who enjoyreading, especially on eReaders. Oftenpeople finish a great book and need arecommendation for a new book. Thisapp will solve that problem.
Benefits Of Bookself• The only book finder that utilizes a quiz to prescribe a book type.• BookSelf would be the only personalized book recommendation app on the Android platform.
Competition• Our competitors (YALSA’s Teen Book Finder and Kids’ Book Finder) have smaller, more specific age groups.• Our app is made for the Android while our competitors’ app works just on Apple devices.• BookSelf will eventually allow the user to purchase books from a partnered source.
Screen Displays The background for each question has a bookshelf with books that pertain to the question. For example, for the age question, there are books such as The Golden Age, The Age of Miracles, and Old Yeller.
Reasons To InvestOur application will be a great investment because: It is unique and solves an identifiable problem quickly. Revenue from electronic books exceeds paper back medium. Partnering with book sources will generate additional revenue streams. Upon completion of the lite version, we will offer a full version that will return multiple book selections and contain a more comprehensive mood assessment.
Cost We will incur the following expenses to complete this app: Cost to hire a developer: $2,500 - $5,000. Google checkout merchant (revenue stream from new/updated versions) as new versions will be considered updates. We will utilize students from our school for the graphic design and our FBLA club will recruit student employees. We will implement shoe string marketing focusing on app review blogs, Facebook, and twitter. Enlisting the help of our friends and families we will encourage downloads and ratings.
Revenue Stream The lite version of the App will be free of charge. The extended version of the APP will cost $1.99 and offer the user more robust mood questions and will return several book recommendations. Partnerships with electronic book retailers will provide recurring revenue as users purchase books.
