  5. 5. Principle <ul><li>Shaping can happen when the first </li></ul><ul><li>desired response is reinforced. Stop </li></ul><ul><li>reinforcing that level of behaviour and </li></ul><ul><li>only reinforce when the final goal </li></ul><ul><li>response is achieved. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>Shaping can happen (reading behavior) </li></ul><ul><li>when the first desired response </li></ul><ul><li>(Alphabets  Syllables  Spell  Read) </li></ul><ul><li>is reinforced (gives chocolate as reward). </li></ul><ul><li>Stop reinforcing that level of behaviour </li></ul><ul><li>(Alphabets  Syllables  Spell) and only </li></ul><ul><li>reinforce (gives chocolate as reward) when </li></ul><ul><li>the final goal response (able to read a </li></ul><ul><li>sentence in one hour) is achieved. </li></ul>Principle-Procedures Link

  10. 10. Procedures <ul><li>Step 1: Induction: Teaching Part -Teach the child </li></ul><ul><li>alphabets in 5 minutes. The whole class then will follow </li></ul><ul><li>the teacher to sing the ABC song. </li></ul><ul><li>Step 2: Students will be asked to view the slides and </li></ul><ul><li>answer the questions in 10 minutes. Each time the child </li></ul><ul><li>recognized the alphabets, he will be </li></ul><ul><li>Rewarded with chocolate. Stop giving </li></ul><ul><li>chocolate when he recognizes them. </li></ul>
  11. 11. <ul><li>Step 3: Teach him to spell syllables in 10 minutes. </li></ul><ul><li>When the child could spell syllables, he will be </li></ul><ul><li>rewarded with chocolate. Stop giving chocolate </li></ul><ul><li>after he is able to spell by syllables. </li></ul><ul><li>Step 4: Introduce to him new words. </li></ul><ul><li>Each time he is able to spell the words, </li></ul><ul><li>he will be rewarded with chocolate. </li></ul><ul><li>Step 5: He will only be rewarded </li></ul><ul><li>when he is able to read a sentence within 35 </li></ul><ul><li>minutes. </li></ul>Procedures

  13. 13. Reflections <ul><li>The motive of the shaper is very different from that of the person whose behaviour is being shaped. The shaper seeks to shape or change another’s behaviour/skill (reading) while the person whose behaviour is being shaped is to gain a reward (chocolates) or to avoid unwanted consequences (punishment). </li></ul>
  14. 14. <ul><li>This one-hour application might enable the Primary One school children to read only a few sentences (even not half a page). </li></ul><ul><li>The students are eager to participate in the class since there is reward to be given and at the same time achieve the lesson plan’s objective. </li></ul><ul><li>The students are able to read at least a few sentences. </li></ul>
  15. 15. Reflections <ul><li>Observational Learning – Children must pay attention to the model, store information about the model’s behaviour in memory and must be motivated to perform the behaviour on her or his own. </li></ul>
  16. 16. <ul><li>To enable the Primary One special education school children to read more than a sentence, this one-hour application steps should be added according to the duration aimed by their teachers. </li></ul>
