Inaddition impact on other traders to follow fair trade practicesAt least 40 percent of additional benefit through the value addition activities andprofit flow back. In addition, improved collectiveness and confidence of farmers ontradeAt least 20 percent of additional benefit from Organic premium from the market. Inaddition, eco-friendly products available to the consumers with comparatively veryclose with the conventional price
  4. 4. Where are we?• 350 Institutionalized farmers and 58 organic farmers. Community decision making process• Gained experience in procurement (System, Practices and expertise), Total procurement achieved in the last three years about 80 tones)• Established service providers in Ginning – 3 nos• Gained experience in Spinning through Gandhigram, DCYT, and mainstream spinning mill experts.• Established spinning facility – 120 tones/year capacity with the support of individual green loans (market demand of 400 tones per annum with Cash and Carry mode)• Marketing – Organic (Upasana, Aharam weavers) and - non organic (Virudhunagar traders)• Product line – Cotton Lint, Cotton Yarn (Organic and non organic)

Future plan• 1000 institutionalized cotton farmers – of which, 40% under organic farming• 100 acres Seed production area + Gin for seed processing at farming village• Procurement of cotton – 900 tones (500 rainfed cotton + 400 irrigated cotton) – Based on demand and other climate risks, procurement from other federation areas like MSMSSK. Groundnut and Poompuhar federations• Establishment of village level procurement & storage points• Ginning through service providers at Virudhunagar• Smooth cotton yarn production at Spinning mill• Sales of 120 tones of yarn and 180 tones of cotton lint (organic and non organic) – worthy about Rs. 3 cores• Clients – Organic (Upasana and Aharam Weavers), :Non Organic – Gandhigram, Spinning mills and Power loom units
