  2. 2. <ul><li>The town is a popular tourist destination owing to its status as birthplace of the playwright and poet William Shakespeare, receiving about three million visitors a year from all over the world. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, who bore him three children: Susanna, and twins Hamnet and Judith. Between 1585 and 1592, he began a successful career in London and appears to have retired to Stratford around 1613, where he died three years later. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>This is the house where Shakespeare was born. It was rebuilt in the 19 th century, but it seems original because inside we could see how was a house at that time. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>This house was the Shakespeare's son-in-law. It was really interesting because he was a famous doctor and there were a lot of instrumental and his diary where he wrote some footnotes. This house was his own surgery. </li></ul>
  6. 6. It was the house that Shakespeare bought when he came back from London and it was demolished when his granddaughter died. It’s very big and lovely, with an enormous garden.
