Choose somekeyword phrase youd like to use and enter it in Googles search field. Thats a way tofind the top websites you would have to compete with.Heres an example of how itsdone:Say, you sell dog food. First, type in dog food in Google to see who your maincompetitors are.Copy this URL to the clipboard, go to Google Keyword Tool( Choose the option togenerate keyword ideas using the websites content, and paste the competitors URLwhere it applies. Now wait a couple of minutes, and Google will surprise you with a great list ofkeywords your competition is using. People domake mistakes when they type in search terms.6. Everyone loves the local guy!- Its sometimes very useful to localize your keywords.
  2. 2. For instance, a guy from Bronx wont search for simply car wash. He will type in carwash New York, or even more likely car wash Bronx. So if you optimize for alocalized term, youll get more visitors who want to get what you offer exactly whereyou offer.7. Tiny variations make a great matterMost search engines make a distinction between singular and plural forms, as wellas stemmed variations — gender forms, or "-ing", "-ed" forms. So dont forget it may be very useful for you to target different forms of the samewords as well. Itll bring some portion of searchers to your site.Maybe not that many of them, but as long as you make a sale, its worth the effort.8. Keyword Location - We advise that important keywords should, preferably, be featured in the first few words (50-100, but hopefully even sooner) of apages text content. The engines do appear to have some preference for pages thatemploy keywords sooner, rather than later, in the text. The idea behind performing a research is to, find the keywords which can givemaximum traffic and comes with less competition. An Introduction to Keyword Research Using Free Tools: TO BUILD LINKS:The main tasks for link building are identifying link prospects and implementingoutreach to build relationships with the ultimate goal of securing a link.1. Gain your competitors links.2. Utilize free profile links. You probably already have a Facebook account, soput a link up on your profile. Then, check out this wikipedia page for other websitesthat you can get a link out of. Leave Blog Comments . Many people spam blogs just to gain a link. Don’t dothis. When you leave blog comments you must read the blog article and add arelevant comment.4. Link Directories. There are websites out there which only link to otherwebsites; they are directories. In fact, there are many many websites that do this. But, all directories are not created equally. Here are some good lists of the better linkdirectories: - - Build Relationships and Be Useful. I don’t have a lot to say about this, otherthan just do it.6. Mentioned without a LinkThis one is surprisingly effective. Your goal is toidentify sites/pages that already mention your brand/product/service/website buthave failed to provide the direct HTML link. Just shoot them a pleasant, personalemail and request the link - success rates can be very high.7. Can I Quote You on That?8. Friends & FamilyIm always shocked at how few people send a blast email outto their friends and family requesting links. Youre guaranteed near 100% conversionrates for those folks who do have websites or blogs and its a natural way of makingconnections - after all, these are the same people whod recommend you at a party
  3. 3. to their friends, so why not ask for the equivalent online.9. Think LocalSites from City search & Yellow Pages to Google Maps (though thatlink doesnt count) provide global, local links if you sign up with them, but in nearlyevery mid-large metropolitan area, there are literally hundreds of directories and listsof local companies in every possible category. Oftentimes theyre free and evenwhen they arent, the prices to be listed are fairly inexpensive. more: YOAST SEO:- Snippet Preview:- Focus Keyword:- SEO Title:- Meta Description:On each post, and page editor page you will see this new box called WordPressSEO that has tons of fields like SEO Title, Meta Description etc. You will have tospend 5 extra minutes on each blog post to fill this in, but it’s those 5 minutes that willgive you an advantage over your competition. You should write a custom title, and meta description rather than letting it auto-generate to maximize the benefit. Sometimes your post title, and your SEO title mightnot be the same. Every time, you should write a custom Meta Description becausethe excerpt generator only picks up the first paragraph which might not be the mostimportant one.Title tags: Title tags are the second most important on-page factor for SEO (behindcontent). You can read more information about title tags here.Meta Description: A note about the descriptions. While it doesn’t carry any implicitSEO weight, it is very important to fill out and spend some time crafting it. This iswhat people read about your post, so write something that would compel them toclick on your link. If you don’t fill it out, then the search engines are forced to use thefirst couple sentences from your blog post, and I know there are quite a few of youthat start of your posts with “I know I haven’t blogged in awhile… ”The “Focus Keyword” area shows how a certain search will pop up in the snippet. Soin this case if you searched for “San Diego Wedding” the “Snippet Preview” showswhat that would look if someone searched that term and found it on Google. Thewords San, Diego, and Wedding are all bold in the preview, just like you would see atGoogle. This is really remarkable for testing how well your keywords are utilized inthe appropriate places. Make sure you select a focus keyword, so you can getanalysis on how strong your page is for that keyword. Once you click Save the post, there is a tab called Page Analysis. This gives you even further insights about yourspecific post or page.
  4. 4. IMAGES:1. Pick a descriptive filename—preferably a file name you want that image torank for—because it will help with your search engine rankings.2. title tag: same This is the text that appears when you roll over, or hover over, animage:…The image title is pretty self-explanatory and is similar to the file name, as itis the title of the image. While the image title is important to fill out, it doesn’t directly effect the ranking ofyour images. That said, however, it does add credibility to your page because it willcontain relevant keywords and information.3. alt tag: (the text that the search engine uses to understand images.)When writing the Alt text description, make sure it tells the user and search engineswhat that image is about, using appropriate keyword rich text. Make sure that EACHimage has a DIFFERENT Alt text! Put the main keyword in an ALT once whenaddressing a pageCONCLUSION:The SEO landscape changes constantly, as do the algorithms used by the enginesand directories.
