3. A Minnetonka Moccasins can be a boot, made from deerskin or additional soft
leather, including things like a new singular in addition to attributes made from a single little bit
of leather, stitched with each other at the top, in addition to often with a vamp (additional cell
involving leather).
4. Minnetonka Moccasins are constructed of a synthetic, cream-colored felt, with a back seam and
gathered at the top of the rounded toe. These moccasins are laced in the front, and the lacing is
covered with a flap fastened with a buckle at the shoe's outer side.
5. Minnetonka Moccasins protect the foot while allowing the wearer to feel the ground. The Plains
Indians wore hard-sole moccasins, given that their territorial geography featured rock and cacti.
The eastern Indian tribes wore soft-sole moccasins, for walking in leaf-covered forest ground.
Moccasins are usually all brown, the same color.
7. Minnetonka Moccasin uses many leathers such as cowhide and suede leathers in addition to exotic leather such as moose,
deerskin and buffalo. Listed below are descriptions of the leather selection.
Cowhide Leather: The most commonly used leather. Our cowhide is all full grain leather and has been treated with various
tanning processes.
Suede: The common characteristic of suede is the exposed leather fibers known as the nap. Our suede is expertly tanned
taking special care to sand and buff the surface creating a fine luxurious nap.
Brown or tan ruff: We helped pioneer this special leather. In this process, the leather is treated by impregnating the surface
with oils by which the nap of the leather is held down. The result is a rough distressed looking finish.
Moose hide: The soft, buttery feel of the moose is why it is Minnetonka's #1 seller! Moose comes from the arctic regions
where they are an important food source. Any scars or scratches are natural characteristics of the wild moose. these attest
to the genuineness of the leather and enhance it's natural beauty.
Deerskin: Deerskin leather is known for its' softness and provides the utmost in comfort. Because the animals come from
the wild, any scars or scratches are a natural characteristic of the hide.
Shearling: Sheepskin is a unique natural product. The hairs are hollow so that the fur portion of the hide performs two vital
functions. First, it "wicks away" all of the excess moisture away form the skin. Secondly, it allows the skin to "breathe. This is
why shearling is an ideal product for both summer and winter. It keeps the skin warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Sheepskin is also referred to as shearling. The term shearling comes form when the sheep is shorn for its wool.
