Objectives At the end of a 40-min. class, the students are expected to: a. Define the following terms: 1. Poetry 2. Poet 3. Poem b. Identify the different kinds of poem (nursery rhymes, haiku, tongue twisters, picture poems) c. Appreciate reading different kinds of poem (nursery rhymes, haiku, tongue twisters, picture poems) II. Subject Matter Poetry III. Tools and Materials NSS, Teacher’s Guide, TechnoKids Additional Materials, Power point presentation, Different Poem samples. IV. Preparation • Checking of attendance • Energizer: Reciting of a tongue twister – “She sells sea shells by the seashore.” Repeating it 3x. V. Presentation 1. Unlocking of different terms: • Poetry – the art of making poems • Poem – a group of words that paint picture or tells a story. They use interesting words to tell about a thing, place, or feeling. • Poet – someone who writes poems 2. Presenting of different kinds of poems • Nursery rhymes Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are! Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle, little star, How I wonder what you are! • Tongue Twisters – words that are hard to speak fast because of repetition I wish to wish the wish you wish to wish, but if you wish the wish the witch wishes, I won't wish the wish you wish to wish.

Savio St., Better Living Subd., Parañaque City • Haiku – Japanese poems (contains 5 syllables – 1st line; 7 syllables– 2nd lines,; 5 syllables – 3rd line) Butterflies are cool in the big, huge, green forest. They fly up so high! • Picture Poems – poems that are made up of pictures and words. • Free verse – poems that do not rhyme Black-- The ocean is calm now, a reflecting mirror of darkness VI.
