Types of Bone <ul><li>Flat bones – (shoulder blades and ribs) give protection and provide surface to which muscles can attach </li></ul><ul><li>Short bones – knobby nugget shapes, which are nearly equal in length and width. (Bones in ankles and wrists) </li></ul><ul><li>Irregular bones – have complicated shapes and do not fit into any of the other groups. (bones that make up your back bone) </li></ul><ul><li>Long bones – longer than they are wide. They are slightly curved to make them stronger. (bones in your fingers) </li></ul>
