Morphological argument Paleoclimatic argument Paleontological argument Lithologic argument Alfred Wegener was the author of the Theory of Continental Drift, which represented a paradigmatic revolution of Geology. Wegener argued that continental masses were united in a single supercontinent (Pangaea), surrounded by a single ocean called Panthalassa. This supercontinent would be fragmented and the fragments separated gradually until reaching the current positions. To defend his theory, Wegener presented different types of arguments:
