Question 3: What have you learned from your audience feedback
Throughout the project we have used audience feedback to aid us in the decision making process – after all it is the audience who will be watching the end product. For example we used audience feedback to analysis what audiences expected to see from a horror teaser trailer. We continued to use this style of research to find out answer to other questions as well, such as, our title choices and even down to the fonts we were going to use on the posters.
As a group we also used a digital camera and overhead projector to show our class the final product. After the test screening we then showed the audience our posters and magazine cover. Finally, several questions were asked to the audience to establish their thoughts and opinions of the products. Towards the end of the project we all set about on individual tasks to find out whether or not our products had been a success and whether the audience enjoyed them or not. For me this took the form of a questionnaire with a sample of 30 people. These people were not just students but came from a variety of ages and backgrounds; White Middle classes, Working classes, Black Middle classes etc and ageing from 17 – 55. Over the page is my audience feedback with evaluative comments towards the end of this PowerPoint.
Which genre does this teaser trailer depict? Is the product typical of the genre?

Summing up audience feedback <ul><li>The sample audience on the whole enjoyed our product, most immediately understood the genre of the products along with the brand image; this suggests that our consistent use of colours, fonts and cinematography has been fit for purpose. On the other hand some feedback of the branding does suggest that there is room for improvement, for example, the teaser trailer needs to be linked to the ancillary tasks better. </li></ul><ul><li>The audience also picked up on places where we had developed the general codes and conventions. This is evident in the posters as we have included an advertisement for Empire Magazine; with the audience stating that this was something new. Evidence of development is also clear during the teaser; the majority of the audience found the introduction of the young girl as the horror figure a welcomed change from the norm. </li></ul>
