MEANING/DEFINITION  E-GOVERNANCE-is the application of information & communication technology which transforms the efficiency , effectiveness & accountability of informational & transactional exchanges ;reducing the costs ; of government (national , municipal & local levels),citizens , agencies , businesses etc. & to empower them through access & use of information.  ‘E-Government' -(or Digital Government) is defined as ‘The employment of the Internet and the world-wide-web for delivering government information and services to the citizens.’ 'Electronic Government' essentially refers to

CONCEPT OF E-GOVERNANCE • Complex & Controversial. • No automatic normative connotation. • Involves interaction between Formal institution & civil society. • Elements in society wield power , authority & enact policies & decisions concerning public life & social upliftment. • Processes & structures guide political & socio- economic relationships. • Allocation of resources (poor & vulnerable/decision making). Strengthens the two-way communication channels. • Enables civil society:- 1.get more acquainted with decisions.
