Vocabulary activity
Teams of 3 (but 4 is doable)
Materials: > flash cards with vocabulary currently being learned / reviewed.
> Timer / stop watch.
Depending on the level or size of class give 1:00 or 2:00 minutes/team.

RULES
1. Student A will stand facing the teacher while
the rest of the team stands with their backs
to the teacher.
2. Student A can’t use gestures or body
Language.*
3. Student A has to describe; define the word
so their team mates can guess.
4. As soon as they guess, everyone switches
position in a clockwise manner & continues to
play until the time is up.
5. If they don’t know the word, they can pass
and either get a new word or switch.
6. The # of words guessed is the # of points
earned.
This is a great way of helping students use vocabulary they know to talk about or describe
new words. It also really helps cement the new language in their minds. I’ve used this at all
levels; *with lower levels I might allow gestures/body language. ~ Tara Lockhart
