  2. 2. NLP – Meaning ♦ A communication system using the nervous system ♦ A study of subjective experiences ♦ NLP comprises of three different words which are: Neuro- brain Linguistic- Language Programming- Plan or procedure
  3. 3. NLP- An Introduction ♦ Founded by Richard Bandler and John Grinder ♦ Extensively practiced by well known author Anthony Robbins ♦ NLP as a technique is used to improve interpersonal relationship as well as in management by most of the successful people
  4. 4. Relevance of NLP ♦ Enhances ability to manage our thinking, conflicts and our experience ♦ Helps not only to manage change but also to initiate and embrace it ♦ Heighten awareness of yourself and of others
  5. 5. NLP-The method of change  NLP is a veritable grab-bag of positive thinking techniques.  The method of change is explained through three stages  Modeling  Changing states  Anchoring

NLP- Modeling ♦ Modeling – Doing what other successful people have done to become what they are ♦ Modeling according to the NLP belief is the pathway to excellence ♦ To achieve success, all one has to do is to find a way to model those who have already succeeded ♦ I.e Find out what actions they took, specifically how they used their brain and body to produce the results they desired ♦ In essence, if one wants to be a better friend, richer person, a successful sales person all one has to do is to find models of excellence
  7. 7. NLP- Anchoring ♦ Our brain’s cant distinguish between imagined and actual events ♦ This hampers and intercepts the experiences with more attitude than ever ♦ None of this helps in maintaining a cheerful phone demeanor
  8. 8. NLP- Anchoring ♦ The solution: ♦ Next time when we are making this difficult call, the right thing is to take a moment to conjure up a memory of some amazing personal success

NLP- Changing States ♦ One’s state affects one’s behavior ♦ The state one is in will filter or affect the final result of our interpretation of any experience we have at that moment ♦ There are empowering states such as confidence, love and inner strength and there are paralyzing states such as confusion, depression, fear ♦ All the above states one would interpret experiences with an attitude. - E.g empowering states- ‘I can handle this’ - e.g Paralyzing State- ‘ This is too much for me’
