Some Facts!- Companies like eBay and Amazon are bringing in billions of dollars a year from their mobile apps and mobile commerce sites.- Marketing firm Performics reported that 49% of “heavy mobile web users” have made a purchase using a mobile.- David Eads reports that Kony Solutions sees , 30% higher conversion rates for native iPhone apps versus typical mobile websites Meanwhile, native Android apps tend to have about the same conversion rate as mobile commerce sites.

Some Facts!- Both ASOS and John Lewis plan to launch transactional mobile apps in the first half of this year in a bid to take advantage of the burgeoning mobile commerce sector, which is valued globally at $272bn (£172bn) for 2011 by Informa Telecoms & Media. According to comScore in September 2011, digital purchases (music, eBooks, TV episodes, movies) were the most popular mobile purchases at 47%, followed by sales in clothing and accessories purchased directly from retailer at 37%.2. According to Google Insights four out of five U.S. Smartphone owners use phone to help with shopping. A survey of 5,013 U.S. Smartphone owners found that: 79% use a Smartphone to help with shopping. 70% use phone in store. 35% purchased on their smart phones. 22% purchased through a mobile app. The average annual spend on mobile purchases was US$300.
