The Story – part 1• Lazarus was ill (vv.1-2)• Jesus was called, but delayed (vv.3-6)• Lazarus died (vv.11-15) – In this painful episode, Jesus had a greater purpose. – The disciples, the family and the neighbors did not know or understand His purpose.
The Story – part 2• Lazarus had been dead a long time (v.17)• Jesus met Martha (vv.20-27)• Jesus met Mary (vv.29-32)• Jesus wept with them (vv.33-37) – In this painful episode, each griever had to process the information individually. – Jesus was there with them through it all.
