  2. 2.  Neptune is known for its deep blue color, butit is actually purple.
  3. 3.  Neptune was named after the Roman God of theSea. Neptune spins around once every 16 hours and 7minutes. (1 day) It take Neptune 165 years to orbit the sun once. Neptune has 13 moons and 2 dark spots. It is made out of gas and there is no water on theplanet. Neptune is very cold. It is 10 times colder than afreezer.
  4. 4.  Mars has 2 moons. No person has ever gone to Mars. Mars is cold all the time. A long time ago people thought there was anocean on Mars. Scientists are looking for life on Mars. Mars is red. Some people think Mars is far away, but it isnot far away. Mars is the fourth planet from the sun.
  5. 5.  Venus used to be called “morning star.” Venus’ mountain is the same height as Earthsbiggest mountain. Venus has some landforms. It is 870 degrees F. Venus is Earth’s sister. The sun makesVenus hot. Venus has no moons. Scientists have trouble getting a close look atVenus because of clouds.
  6. 6.  Venus’ spinning makes the sun set or rise. One day inVenus lasts as long as 243 days onEarth.
  7. 7.  Mercury is a small gray planet. It is the planet closest to the sun. Mercury looks like Earth’s moon. Mercury has no moon. You cannot breathe on Mercury. Thousands of years ago the Greeks thoughtthat Mercury was a travelling star. It takes 365 days or one year to move aroundthe sun.
  8. 8.  No one has ever seen the other side ofMercury. There is different kind of gravity on mercurythan on the moon. Mercury is one of the smallest planets in thesolar system. Craters on Mercury were made millions ofyears ago. You would weigh less on Mercury than onEarth.
  9. 9.  Saturn is the 6th planet from the sun. Other planets have rings, but Saturn has themost rings. The rings orbit around the planet. Saturn’s moons are made of ice. No one canskate on Saturn’s rings. Saturn has more than 30 moons. Sometime the wind blows 1,100 miles per houron Saturn. Saturn spins like a top. The days are very short. One days on Saturnonly lasts about 10 hours.
  10. 10.  It takes 84 Earth years for Uranus to spinaround the sun. Uranus has more than 27 moons. Miranda is one of Uranus’ moon. The largestmoon isTitania. Uranus looks like it is rolling on its side. Uranus has craters, long marks, brokenrocks, and giant cliffs. The ocean on Uranus is gas that turned intoliquid.
  11. 11.  Jupiter is made of liquid and gases. On Jupiter wind blows as fast as 640 miles perhour. From Earth, Jupiter looks like a star. If youlook up at the sky at night and see a brightball it is the planet of Jupiter. Jupiter has many storms.
  12. 12.  Earth is about 93 million miles from the sun. Earth is where we live. The blue on our planet is water. To someone in space the Earth looks blue. This is because water covers most of Earth. Someone in space may also see green andbrown land.
