Your DashboardOnce youve got an account, theDashboard is the main interface youlluse to track your posts, see the postsof those you follow, monitor who isinteracting with your blog, andcustomize your design.As you can see, lined across the top isthe types of posts you can make. Topost simply click on the type and it willtake you to the post page.
  8. 8. Your Dashboard For posting photos you will probably first want to install the Tumblr Bookmarklet. Just follow the instructions on the above link. Once you do so you will be able to post a photo from anywhere on the web. It’s the same as the Pinterest Bookmarklet. You just click Share on Tumblr whenever you see something you like and it’s as easy as that!
  9. 9. Your DashboardMaking other types ofposts is a breeze butlet’s show you how a textpost works next. Let’schoose Quote. So youwrite your quote in thequote text box andinclude a source if youhave one. You can alsoadd a photo & choosewhen to publish. Tagsare optional but will helpwith exposure. ClickCreate post and yourdone.
  10. 10. Your ThemeSo next you probably want to customize your theme. There are tons of free and paid forthemes you can choose from but to start you want to click your page at the top- beside theDashboard. Then you will see on the right side of the page it says ‘Customize theme’.
  11. 11. Your ThemeThe customization screenis very useful as it’s –whatyou see is what you get.You edit on the left to seethe changes to your pageto the right. You canchoose a theme and thenalter it however you wish.Once you find that all yoursettings andcustomizations look justright you can click save atthe top.
  12. 12. Your Avatar To change your avatar photo click Blog Settings underneath the Customize tab and here you will have options to change your photo, URL, interactions with other social media sites and more.
  13. 13. Tags Tumblrs tag pages make the site easier to navigate and breaks it into categories. If youre looking for the best in tech, film, animals, or any other topic, click Follow on any of the tag pages. Plus, tagging your own posts in the bookmarklet or post entry tool automatically sends them to the appropriate tag page. Also with Tumblr’s tags you don’t have to put the # sign first. You can also search tags in the search box on the right & you will also see suggestions of people to follow.
  14. 14. Mobile If you prefer browsing on your phone Tumblr has apps for iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
