Flip the Media blog - my work

 1. 1. My brilliant Flip the Media career
UW MCDM Screen Summit, 6/10/2011
Suna Gurol
UW MCDM Cohort 8
2. 2. I’ve been involved in Flip the Media, the blog of the UW Master in Communications program, since Fall 2008, first as a writer and then on the editorial board.
Contributors to Flip the Media include students, faculty and community members.
The following is a little overview of some of the main items I worked on over the last three years…
3. 3. One of the most popular posts on Flip the Media for years was my post “Even Facebook Can’t Make You Popular” – with 13 comments and a consistently high page rank on Google…
4. 4. Then there was the case of the elephant photo on this post…
The photo was indexed by Google and gave Flip the Media (as well as my name) a high (and somewhat misleading) search rank.
5. 5. A few other posts I wrote…
6. 6. From writer to editor in August 2009
A few of the authors represented here:
Rubi Romero
Brook Ellingwood
Mandy Montero
Anita Vera Crofts
7. 7. Will stay involved in Flip the Media… though I just graduated…
