LIFE  GROUP  STUDY  GUIDE   October  31,2010   1  Peter  1:22-­25     In  Chapter  1,  Peter  declares  we  have  a  “living  hope”  and  commands  us  to  “be   holy  in  all  you  do.”    He  concludes  the  first  chapter  by  reminding  us  that  our   sincere  love  for  one  another  is  the  result  of  obedience  to  the  living  and   enduring  word  of  God.       Read  1  Peter  1:22     DIG    How  does  obeying  the  truth  purify  us?    What  “truth”  is  Peter  speaking  of  (hint:  v.18-­‐20)    According  to  this  verse  what  is  the  evidence  of  our  obedience  to  the  truth?      Why  would  relationships  be  used  as  evidence  of  whether  or  not  we  have   been  born  again?   Read  1  Peter  1:23-­25    How  is  the  word  of  God  like  seed  in  your  heart?    Why  does  Peter  write  of  the  brevity  and  frailty  of  life  in  this  context?    What  does  this  text  suggest  about  the  priority  we  should  give  to  storing  up   God’s  word  in  our  heart?    In  what  ways  can  we  store  up  the  word?     APPLICATION    What  is  an  effective  way  you  use  to  store  up  God’s  word  in  your  heart?    How  would  not  only  listening  to  David’s  sermon  on  Sunday,  but  also  reading   and  praying  over  the  verses  prior  to  the  Life  Group  meeting  enrich  the   discussion  of  your  Group?        Suggestion:  Listen  to  the  message  again  on  the  website  this  week  and  notice   how  your  Life  Group  discussion  added  to  the  sermon  and,  therefore,  helped   to  store  up  the  word  of  God  in  your  heart.    Reflect  on  some  areas  of  your  heart  that  need  purified  by  obedience  to  the   truth.    In  light  of  this  text  and  discussion,  what  action  step  do  you  need  to   take?    How  can  this  Life  Group  help  to  develop  a  deeper  and  sincere  love  for  one   another?
