  1. 1. DIGITAL CONTROL FOR HOME LIGHTING SYSTEMS WITH ZIGBEE COMMUNICATION Introduction: The Embedded Technology is now in its prime and the wealth of knowledge available is mind-blowing. Embedded technology plays a major role in integrating the various functions associated with it. This needs to tie up the various sources of the department in a closed loop system. This proposal greatly reduces the manpower, saves time and operates efficiently without human interference. This project puts forth the first step in achieving the desired target. With the advent in technology, the existing systems are developed to have in built intelligence. Existing system: As more and more home appliances and consumer electronics are installed, residential energy consumption tends to grow rapidly. A large number of home devices increase power consumption. The reduction of standby power is greatly necessary to reduce the power to the device controlled here in this project application. Proposed system: In this project, we are developing digital control for home lighting systems with WSN network. Here using PIC microcontroller, RTC, LCD, zigbee wireless and driver to operate electrical devices. In this microcontroller to used to know the On/Off status of electrical devices and display in the LCD and are transmitted to the control section. The architecture of digital control system for home lighting system includes primary Embedded light controller, sensors that combine with zigbee modules, a MCU, and Current detecting circuit. The user can choose a function “On/Off,” “Schedule,” “Dimming,” “Automatic” from the PC. The system software is based on VB.Net.
  2. 2. The On/Off function is going to make the devices switch on or switch off both the device. The schedule function is going to schedule when the devices are switched on and when the devices are switched off both the device on the time basis. The Dimming function is allotted for the LED array; to make it reduces the brightness of the LED array. Dimming function depends upon the luminescence of the light. Luminescence is measured through Photo detector. The Luminescence values are set through PC using Zigbee. The Automatic function makes the controller itself to decide how much light is required in the place through photo detector. AT89C51 microcontroller 2. PIC 16F877A Microcontroller 3. ZigBee Transceiver 4. LCD Display 5. PC with .Net Software Requirements: 1. Embedded C 2. MP Lab or CCS Compiler Application: 1. Can be used in highly energy needed area like government office, IT parks, atomic stations etc.
