Some of the best parties ever thrown were in lofts, and anyone who has been a guest at a loft party will agree that few other venues can come close to such an experience. Still, is the allure real, or is it just an illusion created by movies and Instagram trickery? Look at the factors that contribute to the appeal of a loft party, and see if it is worth it to go to one.

Still, is the allure real, or is it just an illusion created by movies and Instagram trickery? Look at the factors that contribute to the appeal of a loft party, and see if it is worth it to go to one. Getting High The first thing that jumps out at people when they enter a loft is the elevation of the venue. A loft is commonly an upper storey of a building that can range from a room on the third floor, or an apartment, hundreds of metres above street level. Most lofts have high and wide windows that emphasise just how high up from the ground everyone is standing. The point of the elevation is that it contributes to the feeling of exclusivity in the party. Humans have always had a fascination with high places, because they represent goals and status ordinary people cannot attain. Mount Olympus in Greece, Mount Meru in India, and Mount Koya-san in Japan were all seats of the gods in their respective religions. Climbing these peaks required the blessing of the gods themselves, and was a great honour. Psychologically, humans still respond to that basic idea that height equals importance, and that’s mirrored to a lesser extent in a high loft party.
  3. 3. No Boundaries The second aspect that makes a loft party memorable is its openness, or rather, the lack of walls. The first lofts were nothing more than storage spaces converted into residential spaces. There was no need for walls, dividers, or boundaries in storage, so that is what people got when they started moving in. Some people see this as a disadvantage because of the obvious absence of privacy anywhere, but it is the perfect layout for a party. This is because guests have the freedom to move wherever they want. There is no dance floor or drinking tables, because the entire venue serves every possible function simultaneously. That kind of freedom is non-existent in many other places, but it comes so easily in a loft party. Exclusivity and freedom are what people get from a loft party, and anyone who has ever been to a VIP room before knows that it is a recipe for a wild and memorable night.
