    1. 1. An Innovative Rotary-to-Rotary Partnership: Making the Impact of the Whole Greater than the Sum of the Parts.
    2. 2. Haiti is 1/3 of the island of Hispaniola (With nearly identical population levels, Haitian GDP = $ 5B, and Dominican Republic GDP = $ 32B )
    3. 3. <ul><li>Poorest Country in the Western Hemisphere… with a population of nearly 9 million…. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>80% of Haitian rely on subsistence farming </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>95% is deforested and 80% of topsoil eroded </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Literacy rate is only 54% </li></ul></ul>
    4. 4. Has been hard to find in * Haiti ranks last/worst in the global water poverty index One of these Haiti Infant Mortality rate of 6.3% ( Over 10x the US rate )
    5. 5. But Rotary and Haiti Outreach are Helping Rotary Safe Water Plus Program – 100,000+ people in Central Plateau now have access to safe drinking water
    6. 6. … and the Children have stopped dying!
    7. 7. <ul><ul><li>Safe Water </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Additional Needs : </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Education </li></ul></ul>Central Plateau of Haiti  Only 3 public secondary schools in the entire Central Plateau of Haiti - 200,000 potential students!
    8. 8. These children deserve a chance to attend school to improve their lives and create futures In Haiti, only 18% of the children attend secondary school…. Will you help?
    9. 9. Making the Impact of the Whole GREATER than the Sum of the Parts 1+1=3 Rotary Clubs working together can make the difference!
    10. 10. La Victoire . . . Is a community of 10,000 people where we are doing a ‘Safe Water’ Project They have 1 public primary school and 0 Secondary schools . The Community has asked for help to build a secondary school
    11. 11. La Victoire Secondary School …. <ul><li>If we build it…. They will come ! </li></ul><ul><li>Serve over 400 low-income students who have no other access to public secondary schools </li></ul><ul><li>The Haitian Education Ministry will staff, support and maintain the school once it is built </li></ul><ul><li>The project includes a safe-water project </li></ul><ul><li>Construction will use local labor, managed by Minnetonka based Haiti Outreach staff in Haiti. </li></ul><ul><li>Architectural design is through a partnership with Engineers Without Borders </li></ul><ul><li>The goal is to have the school ready to open in late 2009. Construction will take 5-6 months </li></ul>

    13. 13. <ul><ul><li>Become a ‘partner’ club </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>‘ Sponsor ’ a Classroom, Desk or Student </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>$ 20,000 per Classroom </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>$1000 per Desk (three students per desk) </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>$ 333 per Student </li></ul></ul></ul>What can you do?
