  3. 3. eLearning - It is a European Commission initiative; - It seeks to speed up changes in the education and training systems for Europe's move to a knowledge-based society.
  4. 4. <ul><li>eTwinning - http:// www.etwinning.net / </li></ul><ul><li>- It is a framework for schools to collaborate on the Internet with partner schools in other European countries. </li></ul><ul><li>It is the main action of the European Union's eLearning programme. </li></ul><ul><li>It promotes school collaboration in Europe through the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) by providing support, tools and services to make it easy for schools to form short or long term partnerships in any subject area. </li></ul><ul><li>Source: http:// www.etwinning.net/ww/en/pub/etwinning/areyounew.htm </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>Aims of the eTwinning action: </li></ul><ul><li>Creating a new teaching and learning dimension (different contexts, methodologies, etc.); </li></ul><ul><li>Providing a more motivating learning environment; </li></ul><ul><li>Developing the intercultural and communication skills; </li></ul><ul><li>Developing the students’ and the teachers’ ICT skills; </li></ul><ul><li>Promoting cultural values; </li></ul><ul><li>- Providing the basis for the creation and development of short and/or long term projects. </li></ul>

  8. 8. Our Project 4. Project length : Two school years. 5. Subjects involved: EFL, ICT, Citizenship, … 6. ICT tools: email, videoconferencing, chat, forum, net call (by means of Skype, MSN, etc.), cooperative environment, PowerPoint presentations, web pages, blogs, …
  9. 9. Our Project 7. Specific aims of the project - Through the ICT, we intend to: a) promote contact with varied linguistic and cultural realities; b) develop the communicative and sociocultural skills;
  10. 10. Our Project 7. Specific aims of the project: c) promote Education for Citizenship (responsibility, autonomy, respect for the other, …); d) contribute to the Ss’ motivation to study English, (key-language for international communication); e) develop the fluent and accurate use of EFL;
  11. 11. Our Project 7. Specific aims of the project: f) promote the use of strategies to overcome difficulties and solve problems, assuming risks as a natural means of learning; g) articulate skills developed by different subjects;
  12. 12. Our Project 7. Specific aims of the project: h) combine ICT with the EFL curricula; i) develop the ICT skills; j) understand nowadays’ new technologies and globalization challenge;
  13. 13. Our Project 7. Specific aims of the project: k) promote pedagogic innovation through the creation of a captivating learning environment; l) contribute for the building of an European education dimension.

Activities: </li></ul><ul><li>Work together - starts beginning of March till the end of this school year; if things work out, we’ll go for one more year; </li></ul><ul><li>Online communication - if possible, we will try to be online altogether (at school, if possible, both teachers and students of the schools involved), or at home (email, MSN, Skype, etc.); </li></ul>
