Action Plan

  1. 1. When looking at my district’s technology plan, object 1.2 states the district will provide specific training on the integration of technology in the classroom. It stated that the district would provide monthly technology staff development sessions. I feel our district is falling short of what was stated in the Technology plan. On the average we have training about once a semester. On the positive side our technology department is implementing three phases of technology, which is providing all K-12 teachers Smart Boards and Elmo projectors. The district has just completed phase 2 and phase 3 will be installed before February. Most teachers involved are excited about the new technology, but are hesitate. I feel with sufficient training, the new technology will help our teachers make their lessons more interactive, and the students will love it! According to STaR Chart, my campus was still developing for the past three years in teaching and learning. This shows that are teachers feel they are not being properly trained for technology in the classroom. I feel being trained is essential, when wanting your teachers to implement technology in their classrooms. As a district our objective is to train all Phase 2 teachers as soon as possible. The teachers that are needed to be trained are all K-5 grade levels. My action plan consists of one day training on both the Smart Board and Elmo. After the one day training there will be an ongoing support system for teachers. Teachers will be able to blog about how they are preparing for lessons with the Smart Board and share lessons with other teachers. There will also be online support for teachers who need support.
