Recommendation Letter
I hereby certifii that I have known Mr. Stathis Grapsas since 2010, and have followed
closely his work, as theatre workshop leader at Avlona young offenders' institution in
Greece. Mr. Grapsas has worked in p very professional, inn6v31ive, intensive and dedicated
way with young offenders who expressed interest to join the theatre workshop that he
created in collaboration with the headmaster of the school operating in the prison. He has
developed remarkable relations with all members of his group and helped them to become
very creative and devoted, to overcome their difficulties and conflicts and to express their
sentiments through theatre, in a fantastic way. I have seen all the plays that he has produced
with his tearn of young offenders, which were presented both at the institution where they
were held as well as in other prisons. Their last play, "The Retum" has been presented in a
youth theatre festival with the preserce of the President of the Republic and received very
positive feedbacks from all viewers. Following the performance in the young offenders'
institution, I have sent a congratulation letter to him and his team that has been uplopded in
the website of the prison.
Mr. Grapsas' method and work is characteraedby passion, originality and enormous
power, transmitted to the members of his group. I really regret that he has to leaire Greece,
because I believe that his ability to empower young persons who experience difficulties and
margtaalaation and to engage them in expressive theatrical work is unique and necessary in
our country. Knowing however that he is currently looking for a job in Australia, I would
like to highly recorrmend him and I am sure that he is gc rng to respond very positively to
any new professional challenges.
