German Telecoms Market Update Q1-2015

The German telecoms market in Q1-2015 showed a similar development as in Q4-2014. The league tables in Mobile and Broadband-Fixnet remained unchanged with Telefonica Germany leading Mobile and Deutsche Telekom in Broadband. The overall number of SIM-cards on the market showed continuing decline, whereas the number of Broadband-customers rose again.

Der deutsche Telekommunikationsmarkt in Q1/2015 setzte seine Entwicklungaus dem vierten Quartal 2014 fort. Die Rangliste der Mobilfunkanbieter wird weiterhin von Telefonica/ePlus angeführt, die Deutsche Telekom besetzt Platz 2 und Vodafone den dritten Platz der Netzbetreiber. Insgesamt ging die Zahl der im Umlauf befindlichen SIM-Karten gegenüber dem Jahresende 2014 weiter zurück. Bei Breitband-Festnetzanschlüssen (DSL und Kabel) wuchs der Markt weiter leicht. Die Deutsche Telekom führt den Markt mit deutlichem Vorsprung vor Vodafone und United Internet.

Mobile  In Q1-2015, the number of SIM-cards on the German market declined again, as in Q4/2014  Deutsche Telekom showed strongest growth with 211,000 new SIMs, O2/ePlus grew by 54,000 new SIMS  Vodafone lost another 572,000 SIM-cards in Q1/2015 Fixed-line Broadband  Deutsche Telekom showed stronger growth by 57,000 new DSL-subscribers to 12.347 mil. customers  With 93,000 new broadband customers, Kabel Deutschland/Vodafone grew stronger than Deutsche Telekom – but growth was only fueled by Kabel Deutschland acquiring 123,000 new subscribers and a decline in DSL  United Internet remains on position 3 with 4,2m DSL-lines Telecoms Market Update Q1-2015 at a Glance
