  3. 3. Inmarsat Global A truly global company • Headquarters in City Road, London plus offices in 40 countries worldwide • Global network of terrestrial gateways plus fibre network • World’s leading global mobile satellite broadband provider • Worldwide network of independent Distribution Partners (DPs), Service Providers (SPs) and Valued Added Resellers (VARs). • 24/7/365 customer support facilities
  4. 4. Inmarsat Powering global connectivity for more than three decades • 1979: Set up by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to enable ships to stay in constant touch with shore or to call for help in an emergency, no matter how far out at sea • 1999: first intergovernmental organisation to transform into a private company • 2005: present in the London Stock Exchange Today’s Inmarsat customers are found in many different sectors – but they are typically businesses and organisations that need to communicate where terrestrial telecom networks are unreliable or simply cannot reach.
  5. 5. 8. 8. Inmarsat new satellites Europasat (S-band, launch in June 2017) L, S and Ka-band systems Inmarsat-6 (L & Ka-bands, launch in 2020) Inmarsat-5 F4 (Ka-band, launched in May 2017)
  9. 9. I-3/I-4 Satellite Generation in L-band Safety Services: Maritime – Aeronautical Inmarsat>CTO-Reg 02
  10. 10. Classic Aero - Safety and Operational Services Flight Tracking Cockpit operational and safety services
  11. 11. ˃ GADSS (Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System)- ICAO’s concept for GADSS addresses the following three areas of technological requirements: 1) Global Flight Tracking 2) Autonomous Distress Tracking 3) Flight Data Recovery. ˃ Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband-Safety (SB-S) system: is designed to securely and affordably support all GADSS requirements. It is available for initial retrofit installation on existing aircraft today and is scheduled to become a standard option on new aircraft deliveries from 2018. ˃ Provides 10x more capacity – enabling to significantly augment flight tracking and surveillance capabilities over the oceanic airspace SwiftBroadband - Safety The future
  12. 12. 29.5-30 GHz/19.7-20.2 GHz + 27.5-29.5 GHz/17.7-19.7 GHz Mobile Broadband in Ka-band Inmarsat>CTO-Reg 04
  13. 13. › HTS capacity to grow from <700 Gbps in 2015 to c.3,000 Gbps 2020, while demand by 2020 not expected to exceed c.1,000 Gbps1 › Capacity heavily concentrated on North America and Latin America (each c.30% of net capacity additions over 2015-2020) › Few operators focusing on mobility markets that require global coverage Source: Inmarsat analysis of Euroconsult and NSR. World supply of satellite capacity Source: Euroconsult 2016 Despite significant amount of capacity being launched, shortage in mobility market is expected
  14. 14. ESIMs operate in Ka-band GSO Fixed-Satellite Service (FSS) networks User Terminals with small directional antennas for the provision of broadband communication services. May be mounted on aircraft, ships, land vehicles & platforms… ESIMs (Earth Stations in Motion) in Ka-band People want to use these.. anytime, anywhere! ESIMs expand the traditional FSS and MSS type applications providing truly broadband services to mobile platforms
  15. 15. 15 Aviation Clear consumer call for connectivity
  16. 16. GX Aviation is the global standard System designed for global mobility, giving best passenger experience Seamless Global coverage. Designed for Mobility. Passenger Experience System design means superior, seamless availability and performance Single operator End to end control. Dedicated satellite constellation, network. Mbps per beam More spectrum. Rapid ability to add capacity. Higher throughput to aircraft, passengers • Global Signaling Channel managing frequency plan and handling assignment of bandwidth from a single network • Load balancing algorithms to manage aircraft in overlap regions • Six SAS sites – two in each satellite region • Rain fade mitigation and protection from system failures • Redundant network connecting all ground stations • Possibility of gate-to-gate operations • Spot beam architecture allows for frequency re-use • Global Service Beams can be “doubled up” in regions of high traffic • One provider • One network • One satellite operator • Bandwidth managed from a single operator • No leases, just an end-to- end managed subscription Inmarsat proprietary and confidential
