  3. 3. Why VIDES? • VIDES believes that the youth are     effective advocates for social  change and transformation.   • They have a lot to share in   promoting the rights, social  protection and development of  women and children in solidarity  with people in communities.

Busina Mo, Dunong Ko • Informal education for in‐school  children;  • Literacy skills improvement to  supplement learning achieved in  schools, focusing on weak areas  to help children cope with their  lessons. • Literacy activities are presented  in creative ways, often utilizing  games to motivate the children  to learn;

Busina Mo, Dunong Ko • Mobile library and book lending  services, providing access to an  assortment of books ‐‐‐ from story  books, literary classics, reference  materials, supplementary reading  materials, etc. • Story telling and reading sessions  followed by vocabulary and  comprehension‐building exercises; • Basic functional literacy for out‐of‐ school children and youth (reading,  writing and numeracy); ideally to  inspire them to attend formal schools  or seek alternative modes of  education.
