  2. 2. A new start <ul><li>Congestion charging was introduced on February 17 th 2003 in Central London as an attempt to reduce traffic problems in the city. </li></ul><ul><li>This was introduced by Ken Livingstone, London’s mayor. </li></ul>

Pros and Cons of The Congestion Charge <ul><li>Pros: </li></ul><ul><li>Makes accidents less likely to happen </li></ul><ul><li>Road speeds have increased to about 20mph </li></ul><ul><li>More people use the underground and public transport meaning less congestion </li></ul><ul><li>Cons: </li></ul><ul><li>People living in London have to pay to get around in the centre. </li></ul><ul><li>Businesses will be affected because customers will not want to have to pay the charge </li></ul><ul><li>Congestion is still generally bad in London </li></ul>
