  4. 4. Myeloblast comprise < 20% marrow cellularity
  5. 5. Increased risk  AML</li></li></ul><li>Description<br /><ul><li>Arises in 2 Distinct setting:
  6. 6. 1. Idiopathic MDS – insidious, over 50 y/o
  7. 7. 2. Therapy related MDS ( t-MDS)– complication of previous genotoxic drug/radiotx. Appear 2-8 years later.
  8. 8. ALL transform to AML
  9. 9. Highest in t-MDS</li></li></ul><li><ul><li>Older adults 60 y/o
  10. 10. S/Sx related to pancytopenia
  11. 11. Higher proportion of blast </li></ul> assoc. with severe cytopenias<br /> Increased risk of <br /> progression to AML ( 10-40% )<br /><ul><li>Median survival 9-29 months up</li></ul> to 5 years<br /><ul><li>Death due to Bleeding/ Infection</li>
