Skin <ul><li>Epidermis- thin, outter membrane layer.
Dermis- middle, fibrous connectice tissue layer.
Subcutaneous layer- innermost layer, containing fatty tissues </li></ul>
Sweat glands <ul><li>Sudoriferous gland  are found throughout the body.
Sweat travels to the surface of the skin in a  sweat duct .
Surface opening of a sweat duct is called a  sweat pore .

  3. 3. Skin <ul><li>Epidermis- thin, outter membrane layer.
  4. 4. Dermis- middle, fibrous connectice tissue layer.
  5. 5. Subcutaneous layer- innermost layer, containing fatty tissues </li></ul>
  6. 6. Sweat glands <ul><li>Sudoriferous gland are found throughout the body.
  7. 7. Sweat travels to the surface of the skin in a sweat duct .
  8. 8. Surface opening of a sweat duct is called a sweat pore .
  9. 9. Perspiration is another word for sweat.
  10. 10. Apocrine gland is thicker sweat in the pubic and underarm areas . </li></ul>
  11. 11. Sebaceous glands <ul><li>This gland is found in the dermis, the oil sebum lubricates the hair and skin, that prevent drying and cracking. </li></ul>
  12. 12. Hair <ul><li>Arrector pili- small slip of smooth muscle attached to hairs. Think of (goose bumps)
  13. 13. Hair follicle- cavities in the dermis that contains the hair root.
  14. 14. Hair root- deeper cells that divide to grow a hair longer.
  15. 15. Hair shaft- older keratinized cells that form most of the length of a hair. </li></ul>
  16. 16. Nails <ul><li>Flat plate of keratin called nail body , which is connected to the tissue underneath by the nail bed .
  17. 17. Nail root is found at the base of the nail, which is covered and protected by the soft tissue cuticle .
  18. 18. The exposed edge of the trimmed nails is called free edge.
  19. 19. Lunula - base of nail. </li></ul>
