2. THE HEART
the heart is an amazing pump that works non-stop,
keeping the body alive. With every beat, it sends a
surge of bright red blood, carrying vital supplies,
such as oxygen, and the body’s waste products
such as carbon dioxide, through a network of blood
vessels to and from every part of the body. The
heart and blood vessels are together known as
“circulatory system or cardiovascular system”.

4. NON STOP PUMP
the heart is a muscular pump that works constantly
to squeeze blood into blood vessels called arteries.
The arteries take the blood around the body and
the veins return the blood to the heart.
5. THE RIGHT PUMP
the heart is really two pumps side by side. The right
blood sends blood along the pulmonary arteries to
the lungs where it absorbs oxygen. This blood
comes back along the pulmonary veins to the left
side of the heart to be pumped around the rest of
the body just like a fountain forces water out.
6. THE LEFT PUMP
the left side of the heart is larger and more powerful
than the right side. While the right side of the heart
pumps the blood to the lungs the left side pumps
blood all around the body, delivers oxygen, energy
and nutrients from food to every part. Then the
blood which is now low in oxygen, returns from all
of these body parts along the veins to heart’s right
side. There it begins its non stop journey back to
lungs and then around the body once again.
