Let’s know abut Jan Lokpal BillIt is an anticorruption bill which is based on Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 & UN Convention Against Corruption. The objective of Jan Lokpal Bill is to set an indipendent powerfull institution to prevent the corruption in the country at central Govt. level called Jan Lokpal & at state level called Jan Lokayukta. Correspondingly Jan Lokpal to accept corruption complaints against Central govt dept and Jan Lokayukta against state govt dept

Let’s know abut Jan Lokpal Bill It will be a self governed powerful body having administrative power to conduct the investigation like apex court The institution is able to get financial resources according to requirement Politicians and bureaucrats will not able to interfere in their functioning Jan Lokpal &Lokayukta will be the single anti- corruption agency of the country &state respectively They will have powers to assess their manpower requirements

Salient features of Jan Lokpal Bill Investigation to be completed within 1 year Recovery of loss caused to government Confiscation of assets Increased punishment for corruption Power to punish if its orders are not followed Provision for Citizen’s Charter in each department specifies who does what job and in how much time

Selection process of Jan Lokpal Selection process for the members and Chairperson of Jan Lokpal and Jan Lokayukta has been kept transparent The process includes: (a) Formation of selection committee that includes PM,CAG,Leader of opposition,CEC,two youngest judges of SC & HC respectively. (b)Selection committee forms the search committee of strength 10 that includes 5 members from retired CAGs & CECs not involved in any corruption & other 5 from civil society.

Selection process of Jan Lokpal(c) These names will be put up on a website and public feedback & this list is forward to selection committee to make final decision.(d) All meetings of the Search Committee and Selection Committee shall be video recorded and will be made public.(e) Jan Lokpal and Jan Lokayukta will then select and appoint its own officers and staff.

Bt it is clear that astrong lokpal willable to make controlover the corruptionto some extent, but itis the responsibilityof every citizen ofIndia to fight againstcorruption & givesupport to Anna &Co.
